Minecraft 1.8 Release Date Announced - Factions Map Reset + More Changes!

Minecraft update 1.8 will be released September 2nd! This update is massive, bringing new blocks, mobs, game mechanics, and more! Go check it out for yourself here. Once bukkit is released for 1.8, the following changes below will occur on our server. 

 

General Server Changes

 

We are dropping the lobby idea, temporarily. All servers will still remain. By default, all users will join the factions server. The idea for this is grow our player-base on our most popular server (factions), then reintroduce the lobby idea when our mini-game development is done by RedGander. 

 

Factions

• Introduction of Star-Caches! Whenever player-count reaches 30, a message will be broadcasted announcing the start of a "Star-Cache" event. The coordinates of the starcache will be revealed in the broadcast message (There will be 3 predefined areas for these events to be, each labeled with a dynmap marker). A 5 minute countdown will commence, giving factions time to ready themselves for battle. Once the countdown reaches zero, loot will spawn in the chests around the coordinates given. Whoever gets the loot will walk away rich.... perhaps some super-powerful tools, weapons, armor.... that is if they can get out of there alive . 
• Enchantment and potion limits will remain. I saw much more PvP this map, and it worked well. 
• New Creeper mechanics will be put into full force. Obsidian, water and lava will not protect against them. You'll have to be smart about your base designs in order to survive. TnT is going to be nerfed somewhat, due to extremely over-powered grief mechanics with the addition of slime blocks in 1.8. Creepers will spawn abundantly, in place of this. 
• More delays regarding the GC shop. Clavus' GC plugin will be nullified with name changes in the upcoming update. 
• Addition of a /spawn command.
• Keeping pearl/snow-ball mechanics.
• Addition of a new admin to our team! If you haven't submitted an app already, feel free to do so. One candidate will be chosen in the next couple days. 
• Addition of cool spawn builds/parkour (think pirate ship map)
• Factions 1.6 branch will return! 

PvP Server

• Removal of the punch 2 bows
• New FFA map

Creative

• We'll probably have to start a new world, due to some uncontrollable chunk error issues. 

Survival

• Possibility of going public soon. Highly doubt it.

That sounds nice only one thing, if there are 3 places where the star-cache will spawn, and not more, people will get an alt there, go offline, and if there is star-cache they will get on with that account, take all the loot, and go offline again...

The loot dosen't spawn befour the countdown is done. So if someone puts an alt there they'll most likely die when the rest comes.

Skyblock seems popular nowadays. I'll look into it for sure.

 

Currently there are admins and chatmods for each specific server. And since we're dropping the lobby idea, I was wondering if the admins would be admin on all servers (Factions, pvp, survival and creative).

 

If you're an admin on either the PvP/Faction server, you'll be admin on both. Creative/survival will continue to be run by me/RedGander. As for chatmods, we'll see about that.

If theres a way to make people dont grief then im agree but omg, we cant control the guys whitelisted and now in public? that scares me.

Could you expand on this? My definition of profanity includes all swearing. Swearing, if used in moderation, is okay.

I get that falling into lava might warrant something like a "no fucking way / lol oshit" which Isn't the same as this dutch trend of telling people "get kanker". But both should be against the rules but just warrant a different response from the admin team. It just keeps the server clean and fun and nobody gets offended.
