Zombie Survival Green Apocalypse 2.0

Before I start writing stuff down here - I gotta warn you:

  • This is NOT a topic about bitching "Waaah you 'ruined' zs!" and such
  • This is NOT a suggestion topic for current zs

So what is this?

I decided to help our zs once again, however from scratch (using zs 2.0).

Why I wanna do it? Because face it - current zs is kinda old and sadly got overloaded with some useless upgrades :/

However what I am planning to do with ZS 2.0:

  1. First of all fix all bugs that appeared during GMod updates (broken animations and other crap)
  2. Add 4 classes and new leveling system (about it read below)
  3. Import Zombine of course (maybe with some changes), however not sure about Howler (unless Ywa will eat me :V)
  4. Add GreenCoins of course
  5. And some other stuff that is currently undecided...

In theory it should be a nice stable version of zs (with advanced cading and such) with features from good old current zs :)

About leveling system:

Well any ideas are welcome (but not really complicated)

My thoughs:

  • System where you unlock more weapons for kills/rewards tree during your progress (using xp), + you have to unlock some perks that can be used in 1-2 limited slots. +global ranks (yeah sounds like bf :V)
  • System where you have 4 classes again, but each class has 4 same perks that can be progressed by spending gained xp and such (perks are Health, Agility, and need 2 more). This will be a bit different because classes may have dirrefent default health and some other different stuff.

About classes:

Possible idea(that can finally make all classes fair):

  • Merge Commando and Medic (make commando less 'fat', give him only assault rifles, make new health kit)
  • Leave Marksman (make it more useful)
  • Give Support heavy weapons (like m249 :o, give him nerfed version of mines or something, remove hammer since its shared weapon)
  • Rework Engineer (remove pulse weapons, give him smgs and such, remove mines, leave turret)

So if you have any ideas - go ahead and post them here (remember, without shitposting like in other zs threads).

Oh and when its gonna be? When I'll gather more nice ideas (however I can start fixing some stuff in zs 2.0 already) and of course when I'll get some free time.

And one more thing - can anyone think about better name than Zombie Survival Green Apocalypse 2.0? :V

I think this is a very good idea. It might scare some people in the shortrun, but in the longrun it would have a good future.

25 Levels

2 Skill Points Per Level

Skill-points can be spent on perks/stats/etc and refunded with Green-coins.

You require XP to level up which can be gained from:

Killing Zombies – 1xp per kill

Surviving – 35xp

You can only purchase a few basic perks at start, but as you level up you can unlock more perks.

Each time you level up your XP is reset for the next level.

20xp – Level 1

35xp – Level 2

55xp – Level 3

70xp – Level 4

85xp – Level 5

115xp – Level 6

145xp – Level 7

165xp – Level 8

195xp – Level 9

235xp – Level 10

260xp – Level 11

300xp – Level 12

320xp – Level 13

360xp – Level 14

420xp – Level 15

490xp – Level 16

560xp – Level 17

635xp – Level 18

740xp – Level 19

820xp – Level 20

900xp – Level 21

1000xp – Level 22

1200xp – Level 23

1500xp – Level 24

2500xp – Level 25

Two questions id like to ask, can i keep my upgrades or get a refund ? :/

And can people that have a maxxed out class, get lvl 25 in that class ? Because it took me a year and a half to reach it. And its not only me, every other player with high lvl classes would wanna know if it can get converted.

I would love chem back instead of zombine. :/

I am not sure about that, i think you should get something but maybe not full level, because say i i was lvl 5 with 299 survives and full in other requirement and then necro changed it, i would go back down to someone who just got 151 survives...

Add fast crab.

Add zombie crawlers for fast zombie and normal zombie.

Delete FOV controller.

Poison zombie should throw npc_poisonheadcrabs, they will go to any humans sighted and bite them, if no humans are sighted the npc will follow it's master/owner. =)

Replace classes with perks, so that people can mix and match what ever perk they want, and to upgrade them they have to meet 2 requirements or pay Green Coins to upgrade them.

Allow people to choose models.

Add more hats.

^ what she said. Edit: and about that pufulets idea, what about killing humans, that should give exp too. And you should get exp from surviving and survival time, this means if you redeem the last minute, you ill just get 1 or 2 exp, but if you redeem when there is 15 minutes left, you will get 30-35 exp. This eliminates late redeem way better than the two minute limiter. Edit2: fuck im good.

I've suggested this a long time ago, but what about 2 simple classes , Soldier and MeleeMan, one that masters every normal weapon, the other is specialized on melee fights.

Both have their own specific skills (eg: MeleeMan runs faster than Soldier, Soldier is more resistant etc...).

For zombies, bring back the fast headcrab, replace the zombine with the chem zombie, kick Howler's ass out of the game and give back to the wraith his scream.

Instead of having a medic or engineer class, just give to the players the ability to heal themselves (healthpacks on the ground, or special powerup) and pick up aegis barricade kits.

Those who are going to say I'm not playing the game, why do I suggest this stuff blabla... yes I don't play the game anymore (because I disliked it more and more after each update) but I'm resuggesting my old suggestions, if people are interested in.

Hey there Guys,

As you know, I'm a long term fan of ZS, and I'm happy to hear that Necro is doing this. As requested, here's some ideas I have had.

CLASSES

In my opinion, the class system doesn't sound that great. To create more of an atmosphere, the classes should be more naturally. So instead have names like "Marksman", have "Ex-SWAT" or something like that.

The classes themselves seem very balanced. But we need to remember that the original ZS can get incredibly frustrating for the Zombies with over-powered humans. So can I suggest making weapons harder to get, and don't make them too silly. Remembering that the setting is a post-apocalypse world, people running around with Chain-guns isn't exactly the most in-character thing.

So I can't see many other changes that I'd recommend. Keeping them balanced and fair is the only thing that requires delicate attention with the current plan.

LEVELLING SYSTEM

What Pufulet has suggested is madness, and will ruin the game. This isn't Call of Duty. More advanced players shouldn't receive any significant bonus, e.g perks or weapons, that noobs don't have.

The only way that players should be separated with is their skill.

Experience levels to show dedication or to unlock purely cosmetic items, such as hats or weapon skins, would be a lot better indeed.

You should have titles related to these, ones that are funny and heroic, not just "Private" and "Sergeant"

NAMES

We should avoid any gimmicky names that make the game appear tacky.

- Mr. Green's Total Invasion

- Green-Ocolypse

- Mr Green's Zombie Holocaust

Stuff like that is better than sticking to convention.

Apart from that, Necro, sounds awesome. You don't have to listen to me anyway, what do I know?

When deluvas stopped coding he was busy making a squad system. Maybe the code is still there in zs but in-active. Because that would really boost gameplay.

I agree with peon that the difference between new players and pros are to big. So i would suggest lower the perks alot, but dont remove them. New zs players need to be stimulated to play and they want to get better (e.g lvl up)

yeah, maybe its still there and i think some bonus's for levels because you could be pro but yet the same as a noob

We need 3 simple classes

Mele class

Range class

Support Class

Who can specialise in 3 futher tiers each with there own tree. (inb4 someone says borderlands rip)

Mele

Tank, Ninja(agile/blades),Beserker(strong/blunt weapons)

Range

Marksman(snipers),Soldier(assault/lmg),Priest?(Magnums/shotguns)

Support

Engineer(turret),Medic(healing),support(props/cading)

each tier will have their advantages/dissadvantages, you can get point in every tree (but you wont be effective)

I could maybe make an example tree for each if your interested.

i dont like chikennuggets idea, half of the players playing berserker just doesnt sound like a good idea. 5 classes(berzerker, not the fartsman), borderlands and world of warcraft like skilltree. ( they are pretty much the same.)

And what I'll answer to this is :

Though, both classes can use barricade kits or health kits, they're just a sort of complement for each other.

If I go further with this, I'd say we can choose a small amount of perks for each class at the beginning (and you can save your build, like in a MMO if you want) so you can customize your class a little bit.

If you don't want to do melee all the time you can give to your Meleeman some perk that slightly increases his gun skills (he can reload guns faster for example) so he has a better chance(but he'll still benefit of his class skills, higher speed etc).

About classes:

Classes sound very battlefield 3 (not that that's bad). Some things will probably need to be balanced but it sounds good. Commando should be the best all around assault guy in my opinion (just generally better with all weapon types like less reload time, more damage etc.), Marksman should be better damage with pistols as well as with the sniper and do more head shot damage with all weapons and get some detection gadget similar to the one in iw. Support should be like supplies in iw and be more of the ammo dispensing/ health dispensing kind of guy for those who prefer to support the team. Engineer should be the cade building specialist and starts with the hammer and cade kit and merge their ammo so the decision of using kits or nails arises. He should also have some kind of special weaponry that has it's own unique strengths and weaknesses.

Just some brainstormed ideas, fell free to give opinions.

Sounds good although it would be nice to get the occasion small stat boost after a few levels maybe but not huge ones (like 1 stat boost every 5 levels).

Pro/long time players should be able to unlock models to look as if they're in the swat team. =)

Make pros look cool.

Ties in well with the idea of cosmetic items for levels (there should be golden guns to for max levels :o )

The main problem with a melee class is balance issues why not just have melee weapons do decent damage like pufu had suggested in one of his "updates". The old aegis cade kits can't comeback as they basically were just used to exploit, which just ruined ZS. Also the new cading system is a lot better anyway.

The class system should be noob friendly and encourage team work so have medic and a support/engi class that cades would be better. I do like the idea for a sort of perk system.
